Biography Text: Dr. Wallace received his dental degree from New York University College of Dentistry in 1967 and is a graduate of Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry where he received his Certificate in Periodontics in 1971. Until 2021 he was an Associate Professor in the Department of Periodontics at Columbia University for 5 years and for 19 years prior to that, he has had a similar academic rank at the New York University Department of Implant Dentistry. He was a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and a Fellow of the Academy of Osseointegration. Dr. Wallace lectures on subjects relating to implant dentistry, specializing in maxillary sinus elevation, both in the United States and abroad. He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed papers relating to implant dentistry, contributed numerous text book chapters, and has co-edited a textbook on maxillary sinus elevation surgery. Dr. Wallace received the 2013 American Academy of Periodontology Master Clinician’s Award for outstanding service and level of practice. PersonalDr. Wallace has had a long-time appreciation for Asian culture. He has travelled to Japan, China, and other Asian destinations on many occasions, both as a dental lecturer and as a tourist. He presently is a student of the Japanese tea ceremony, Japanese calligraphy, and Japanese swordsmanship. From China, he has adopted tai chi and qi (chi) gong. He has recently built a Japanese tea garden at his home and this past summer has conducted to chaji or tea ceremony for 40 guests at a local University.
