Biography Text: Dr. Momen-Heravi is a Professor at UCSF School of Dentistry, a clinician-scientist, and a board-certified periodontist. She directs an NIH-funded research program focusing on translational research in periodontal disease pathogenesis, immunology, and head and neck cancer. Before joining UCSF, she was a faculty member at Columbia University Medical Center, where she founded and directed the Head and Neck Cancer Research Group at the Columbia Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center. She has published over 100 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in high-impact journals covering basic and translational science in medical and dental research. Her research contributions have been nationally and internationally recognized. Dr. Momen-Heravi’s research program is supported by the National Institutes of Health and several foundations. She is the recipient of multiple prestigious awards, including the AACR-The Mark Foundation for Cancer Research 'Science of the Patient' award, Maximizing Investigators' Research Award (MIRA) from NIH, the Anne D. Haffajee award from the American Association for Dental Research, the International Association of Dental Research Young Investigator Award, the Dr. Walter Cohen Teaching Award from the American Academy of Periodontology, the AACR-Bayer Innovation and Discovery Award, the Balint Orban Memorial Award from the American Academy of Periodontology, and many others. As the director of an NIH-funded laboratory and a researcher in the field of periodontal disease immunology, Dr. Momen-Heravi is passionate about translating science for patient care and employing a multidisciplinary innovative approach to oral health rehabilitation.
