Description
Medications play a significant role in oral health and can influence how dental care is delivered, with more patients being prescribed drugs that require the dental team’s attention. This course will cover the effects of antiresorptive medications and the rising use of diabetic medications like GLP-1 receptor agonists, as they are becoming more common in dental patients. Additionally, we will discuss the evolving research on the oral-systemic link, emphasizing that oral and general health are interconnected and cannot be treated separately. We will also delve into effective treatment strategies and maintenance regimens for the long-term success of periodontally questionable teeth. In the current dental landscape, implants are often the go-to treatment, but it is crucial to evaluate whether saving natural teeth should still be prioritized. This course will explore the clinical, financial, and patient satisfaction aspects of preserving teeth versus opting for implants. As trusted hygienists, you'll often face the question, "What would you do if it were your loved one?"—deciding whether to extract or save a tooth.8:00 – 8:15 am Welcome Remarks - Anuja Doshi
