New Perspectives in Crestal Sinus Elevation
Speaker: Jerry C. Lin, DDS

Sinus elevation has long been a standard of care for the sinus proximity upon implant placement. Crestal sinus elevation has become more and more popular along with a variety of techniques and devices. This presentation will present modified protocols and techniques for maximizing crestal sinus elevation. With the aids from proper instruments, devices, and techniques, optimal crestal sinus elevation will be achieved. New protocols for managing sinus septa and slopes as well as the technique to repair Schneiderian membrane perforation upon crestal approach will also be demonstrated.

Innovative Implant Maintenance Methods and Protocols for Treatment of Peri-Implantitis
Speaker: Edward P. Allen, DDS, PhD

Peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis following successful osseointegration of functionally loaded implants have become recognized as significant problems in implant dentistry. Both are progressive infective processes that cause patient discomfort and can lead to implant failure. Prevention and treatment of these maladies require reduction of the microbial burden by effective decontamination of the abutment and implant surfaces. This presentation will describe innovative implant maintenance methods and both non-surgical and minimally invasive surgical protocols for treatment of peri-implantitis.

The Easy Way to Incorporate Alveolar Ridge Preservation in Your Practice Today
Speaker: Veronique Benhamou, DDS

Ridge preservation remains a successful approach for maintaining horizontal and vertical ridge dimension after extraction. The simple application of Atelocollagen Bone Augmentation Material into a socket significantly reduces dimensional changes. This procedure is easy and predictable, and reduces patient morbidity and cost, compared with other techniques. Various applications of this novel material will be discussed, and cases will be presented to illustrate the recommended surgical technique, case selection and the ease of manipulation of the material.

Record Values for Perio Practices Set in 2023. Learn Why and How.
Speaker: Chip Fichtner

Invisible Dental Support Organizations (IDSOs) are quietly partnering with some of the largest periodontists in the US by purchasing 51% to 80% of the practice for cash. Doctors retain ownership and continue to lead their practices with complete autonomy for years or decades.

Doctors benefit from the resources of a larger silent partner to reduce admin burdens and grow bigger, faster and more profitably.

Hard Tissue Grafting in Dental Implant Therapy

Panel Discussion

Managing Implant and Regenerative Complications
Speaker: Rodrigo Neiva, DDS, MS

For the practicing clinician, managing complications is the reality they face most days. This lecture will discuss implant and regenerative complications and will showcase clinical cases to highlight common complications in implant dentistry to include biological, mechanical, and technical complications and how to avoid/manage them.

Carbonate Apatite, an Emerging Substitute for Xenograft and Allograft
Speakers: Paul S. Rosen, DMD, MS and Masahiko Nikaido, DDS

Autografts have been considered as the gold standard for hard tissue regeneration. Cytrans Granules have similar composition to the inorganic component of human bone, which allows a unique balance between bone formation and bone replacement. This balance helps preserve the volume of regenerated bone, leading to more predictable outcomes. In this lecture, the potential clinical implications of Cytrans Granules will be discussed through the clinical cases.

Treatment of Peri-implantitis with Er:YAG Laser
Speaker: Donald Clem, DDS

While dental implants have arguably been considered one of the most significant advances in dental treatment, they are not impervious to biologic complications. While the percentage ranges of implants affected exhibits a wide range, the periodontist is clearly faced with a challenging dilemma. In addition, many periodontists are seeing more cases of peri-implantitis as we see literally hundreds of implant manufacturers come and go, minimally trained clinicians attempting advanced grafting and implant installations with little in the way of convincing data. Along with this clinical challenge, we are faced with multiple treatment recommendations and no universally accepted therapy. This presentation will address many of the problems we faced, review the literature and present options for treatment to manage these cases.

Management of Sinus Lift Techniques Among Practitioners According to Their Current Experience
Speaker: Alberto Herranz Calzada, DDS, MD, PhD, BDS

Key factors that take an important role on the success of sinus elevation techniques and how these key factors affect the approach of different maxillary bone atrophies according to the experience of the clinician.

A Clinical Application of BioXclude® Membranes for Periodontal Regenerations to Improve Prognosis
Speaker: Yusuke Hamada, DDS, MSD

BioXclude® Membrane has many advantageous characteristics in periodontal regeneration; thin, easy to apply, no trimming necessary, and no orientation. In addition, several studies also confirmed that the BioXclude® membrane contains growth factors. Based on these findings, the BioXclude® membrane should be viewed as biologically active material, not only as a barrier membrane. In this presentation, we would like to present the essential characteristics of the BioXclude® membrane and indications for regenerative procedures to improve periodontal prognosis of natural teeth.

Enhancing Hard and Soft Tissue Regeneration Using Xenogenous Cross-Linked Collagen Matrices/Scaffolds
Speaker: Darko Božić, DMD, MS, PhD

There are numerous collagen membranes on the market that are used for guide bone regeneration. Most of the ones used are either non-crosslinked or cross-linked. The question is which are better and what are the differences? Recently it was noticed that when using cross-linked collagen membranes together with bone regeneration there was also an enhancement in soft tissue thickness and quality. Therefore, it seems that there is a dual effect on both the hard and soft tissues. This lecture will cover the various possibilities and limitations when using OSSIX Volumax as a membrane for both hard and soft tissue augmentation around teeth and implants and the necessity of properly utilizing it to avoid unwanted clinical outcomes.

Potential of Carbonate Apatite in Hard Tissue Regeneration
Speakers: Anton Sculean, DMD, MS, PhD and T. John Megas Jr., DMD

Various types of bone graft substitutes have been used to promote hard tissue regeneration. Although the performance of alloplast in the past was limited, carbonate apatite bone graft substitutes “Cytrans Granules” have proven accelerated bone formation compared to the established materials through various clinical and basic evidence. In this lecture, the potential of Cytran Granules in hard tissue regeneration based on the results from pre-clinical studies and clinical cases will be discussed.

Thread Design Impact on the Mechanical Stability of Dental Implants
Speaker: TBD

The successful integration of dental implants in immediate extraction sites is greatly dependent on mechanical stability provided immediately after insertion. The design of the implant threads plays an essential role in the initial mechanical engagement between the implant and the bone. Specifically engineered thread geometries, optimized for immediate extraction contexts, ensure maximal bone-to-implant contact. This heightened engagement is crucial in achieving the immediate stability necessary for effective integration of the implant with the bone matrix.

Advanced Allografts: How Donor Selection Impacts Safety
Speaker: Julie Mclean, PhD

Not all donated human tissues are qualified for implantation using the same methods. It is important for clinicians to understand how to assess the quality of a tissue processor, and therefore the tissues it distributes, based on their safety criteria and processing. Donor screening criteria alone can have a profound impact on graft safety. Dr. McLean will discuss why donor screening criteria matters to you and your patients.
